What's new October 2026

What's new in Breeze EHR.

The work finished since September 2026, and where each piece stands.

Most of it lives in the new version of the clinical application. Practices move to it one at a time, on the same record, with nothing to migrate. Each entry is marked: available is in use today, rolling out is built and reaches a practice when it moves to the new version, and pilot is built and being proven with selected practices before it is offered more widely. A demonstration shows which of these your practice would have on day one.

The visit

Less typing, fewer loose ends.

Dictation in the note rolling out

A microphone on the section being written dictates straight into it. Transcription runs on the server, so dictated text can be traced like any other entry.

Copy forward and book the follow-up rolling out

Note text can be copied forward from a previous visit, and a follow-up appointment can be booked from the note's Follow Up section without leaving it. Patient education from MedlinePlus is available in the Education section.

A note that matches the chart rolling out

A review section shows the records entered during the visit that the note's text does not yet mention, so the signed note and the chart agree. A finished visit opens read-only and prints as a PDF.

Vitals and results over time rolling out

Vital signs are entered in the note with BMI and growth percentiles calculated as you type. Any result or measurement can be charted over time, with small trend lines next to the latest values.

Prescribing

Prescribing, rebuilt inside the visit.

A new prescription builder rolling out

Prescriptions are written in the visit and sent through the national e-prescribing network. The builder checks for drug interactions and allergies as the prescription is written, fills a prescription from a dosing regimen, and checks the patient's prescription benefits before it is sent. A prescription phoned in to a pharmacy can be recorded as such.

Medication history and reconciliation rolling out

With the patient's consent, the pharmacy fill history comes into the visit beside the medication list. Outside medications can be added as current, and medications and allergies are reconciled in the visit itself. Renewal requests, change requests, cancellations and any send the network never confirmed arrive in one inbox. Controlled substances stay on the current workflow for now.

Orders

Orders that finish what they start.

Point-of-care and send-out orders in the note rolling out

In-house tests and send-out labs have their own sections in the note. The practice's rules suggest the tests and panels that fit the visit. For Medicare patients, a send-out order can check whether an advance beneficiary notice is needed before it is sent. A visit cannot be finished while one of its orders is still unresolved. Point-of-care results get a review task with an owner.

Referrals with tracking rolling out

Referrals carry remarks and documents and are tracked until they complete. Practitioners and organizations can be imported from the national provider registry instead of typed in.

Immunizations

Vaccines from forecast to lot.

Forecasts, inventory and lots rolling out

The state registry's forecast shows in the patient banner and in the visit, so a due vaccine is visible before it is missed. The practice's vaccine inventory records each lot with its funding source, and the clinician picks the lot from inventory while charting. The immunization screen explains its lot choice and the CDC's preferred age windows for each dose.

Patients

Reaching patients between visits.

Message threads rolling out

Conversations with a patient are threads on the chart, with documents attached, an owner on the practice side, and reassign, close and reopen. The patient gets a text message telling them a message is waiting.

Video visits and remote monitoring rolling out

The clinician joins a video visit from the appointment or from the visit itself. Readings from remote monitoring devices arrive in the chart as vital signs.

Consents, identity and printing rolling out

A library of consent forms, including the privacy notice, consent to treat and financial responsibility, is kept on each patient. Patients can ask the practice to restrict how their information is used, and staff review the request. A photo ID check comes before portal access is granted. Demographics record sex, preferred language and detailed race and ethnicity in standard codes. A chosen set of the patient's printable documents comes out as one PDF.

Billing

A billing workspace on the same record.

From eligibility to payment pilot

A dedicated billing application works from the same record as the clinic. Eligibility checks are kept with their history. Claims needing a person appear in a worklist ordered by deadline, and each claim's workspace shows its full filing history and timely-filing clock. Payer remittances are recorded and matched to their claims, with the reason codes in plain language. Denials, appeals and prior authorizations are tracked. Payments are compared with the practice's contracted fee schedules, starting with Louisiana Medicaid, so underpayments are visible.

Payment posting and charge capture from signed visits are built, with a person approving each step. They are switched on practice by practice, from a cutover date the practice chooses.

Decision support

Rules your clinicians can read and write.

The new rule editor rolling out

Clinicians write a rule the way they would say it, as a sentence with blanks, and author what it suggests with the same editors they use in a visit. A suggestion can now be text, a paragraph or a clinical item. Every suggestion has an information button that opens the rule behind it, and when several rules suggest the same thing the clinician sees one suggestion. A practice can copy a shared set of rules, change its copy, and send its changes back for review. See Decision support.

Your record

The whole record, exportable.

Electronic health information export available

A patient's complete record, with its documents and history, can be exported as one computable package, by staff from the chart or by the patient from the portal. The format is published in full: see the export format.
